What is the most effective style of kung-fu?
I will join a kung fu school and the following styles to choose from: Fist of the North and South of Hua Fist, Drunken Fist, Chin Na, Black Tiger, White Crane, Monkey, and Praying Mantis. What are the strengths and weaknesses of each style? which is the most effective self-defense? which is the best workout? what is best for someone who is tall, thin, lean and mean?
There is certainly an effective style. Some styles are more effective against the other, and less effective against others. Some styles are not good "primary" styles, but the other supplements styles, really good. Chin Na is not so much a style of Kung Fu, as is the building block of almost all Chinese martial arts – almost any style incorporates Chin Na techniques. Style of drinking, it is true that I think is a better way to supplement a primary style – so many style Kung Fu as a drunk.
